My 2yr old boy is driving me totally nuts! Please tell me it's a phase!

My son is my 2nd child so really I should know what 2yr olds are like but I seem to have forgotten.

My lovely little boy who used to sleep through in his cot every night and was super smiley and friendly to everyone has, in the last 3 weeks, turned into a total nightmare.

He has total tantrums if we say no to him to anything, refuses to go in his buggy, won't do as he's told, won't hold hands when we're out, won't go to bed, when he does go to bed he ends up in bed with me every single night (and hubby is his bed).

The most exhausting bit is that he has suddenly become very very clingy with me. He won't let me leave the room without him, won't get off my knee when we go to playgroup, has hysterics everytime I leave the house, won't let my DD1 sit on my knee or hug me, won't let hubby hug me, won't let me go to the toilet...I love that he loves me so much but it's driving me nuts!

I am trying to carry on as normal, stepping over him and ignoring him if he's tantruming and telling him 'no' but it's so hard.

He's also not talking yet (he's 2.2mths). He seems very frustrated at not being understood (although he does use a lot of pointing and sign language to be understood)

I don't even know who to talk to about my worries about him not talking.

Just looking for some reasurrance really that I'm not on my own!

That sounds exactly like my son who is 2.9, you are not alone. I think it's the phase where they try and exert their independence and test boundaries. It's all about being consistent (apprently!) which I am crap at but trying very hard to be better at! Star charts for hehaviour are working for me at the moment...

My DS was just like this at this age (is it a boy thing?). very wearing!

He is now a chilled easy going 5 yr old. Hang on in there.
