Seems to stink! We use washable nappies and the nappy bucket stinks of wee. Is this normal or should I be taking her to see the GP?

Is it a strong ammonia hamster type smell? Might be a build up of detergent in your nappies. I had this and discovered the washing machine wasn't draining properly, one hot wash with extra rinse sorted it out.

But they smell fine when they come out the wash etc, it is just when she wees on them?

DD3's wee is v.strong 1st thing in the morning and her morning nappy makes the bucket hum, so i put a sanitary towel with a drop of tea tree oil on it and stick on the inside of the lid.

If it seems to be smelling stronger than usual and a bit 'pooey' it's always worth getting them checked over for a UTI. DD had smelly wet nappies for a week or two (I can't remember how long it was, but I remember I could smell them through her grobag when she woke at night) before getting a temperature. At that point I took her to the doctor's and it turned out she had a kidney infection.
