...62% I am gutted. I knew I hadn't got a proper grasp on the question but I put shedloads of work into it. Oh well, onwards and upwards.

But 62% is quite a good mark! When I did my degrees I would always have been quite content with 62%. Not ecstatic, granted, but it's perfectly respectable. I can understand if you put particular effort into it, but it sounds as if it wasn't your favourite subject matter.

I say well done!

unfitmother · 25/02/2009 17:48

I'll be delighted to get 62%!
Well done.

Thanks guys. I have cheered up a bit now. I want to do a PGCE next year you see so I HAVE to get a 2.1 to have a chance of getting a place. And that means trying to keep my grades for everything over 70%. But I have gone through stuff today and looked at the next couple of assignments and they seem much more straightforward.

thats a fab mark
well done
how do your uni sort marks then ( at mine 62% is a 2:1?)

wrinklytum · 25/02/2009 21:32

Isn't 62% A 2:1 then?

Was in my day...back in the mists of time

I would've been quite pleased but I is fik

LadyGlencoraPalliser · 25/02/2009 21:33

40-54 is a 3
55-69 is a 2.2
70-84 is a 2.1
85-100 is a 1.

I will work harder.

This is the OU - they are just meanies I reckon. I have my first essay for my other course due in two weeks - I think I like that course better already.

dylsmum1998 · 25/02/2009 21:36

oh your marks a v. diff from ours
40-49 is a 3
50-59 is a 2:2
60-69 is a 2:1
70-100 is a 1

i understand why you were disappointed now with your 62, but it is still a great mark, what yr are you in, and how are rest of your marks, they might "pull" that one up for your 2:1 at the end

wrinklytum · 25/02/2009 21:38

Ah.

It must've changed.In my day it was 40-50 = 3

51-60=2:2 61-70= 2:1 70+ = 1.

Will ask db if this is still case here,he is at same uni and on 1/2:1 borderline...

Ggood luck with your studiesSounds like you did well to me

LadyGlencoraPalliser · 25/02/2009 21:41

I only have these two courses to go which finish in October, plus a short one that runs from October to December and counts for half as much as a full course. The OU is very complicated and trying to figure out how they calculate your eventual class of degree is a nightmare as courses at different levels are given different weightings, but I have got 2.1s in the courses I have done so far. I think I need to get 2.1 in two of the three courses I have left to complete but I am not sure.
Because, actually, it is doing my head in.

Sounds very complicated, what are you studying?

LadyGlencoraPalliser · 25/02/2009 21:43

So why does the OU make you get higher marks for your 2.1 then? I thought all universities would have the same system? Bizarre.

wrinklytum · 25/02/2009 21:44

I agree,very odd!Don't know the answer!

LadyGlencoraPalliser · 25/02/2009 21:47

I'm studying history, Wrinklytum, which I love, but the course I am having problems with isn't a straight history course, it is called Europe: culture and identities in a changing continent, and is more philosophy/sociology which requires a very different approach, and so I got brainfreeze.
