Grrrrr and double grrrr. I can't even blame PMT on this. I've been trying to change my ds lunchtime routine for about 2 weeks now. He's nearly 2. I'm trying to change his routine so that he has his lunch before his nap. Lunch about 11.45 - 12.00 then nap at 12.15 ish then up at 2.00 - 2.30. It worked wonderfully on the first day then it all went pear shaped. I've persevered but he seems to have gone off breakfast so I thought, goody, he'll be hungry earlier so will eat his lunch early. NO. He's either too tired (like today) and screams his head off so there's no point in even trying or, he'll just eat a couple of spoonfulls and then wants fruit. I'm trying to play hard and not give him lunch again after his nap and just give him a snack, but he doesn't seem to mind. Does anyone have any ideas as to why he might have gone from a really good eater so a really really crap one. He's at that age where he says NO to everything. I took him to a toddler thingy this morning and they gave out a load of fruit at about 11.15 which is good, but it doesn't help when you're planning to give him lunch about half an hour later. I want to persevere with the new routine but I also don't want a battle every mealtime so I try a bit and if he repeatedly pushes his bowl away, I stop. I have a five month old, too, who I'm weaning. Can anyone HELP ME before I put them in the cupboard and go out for the afternoon. Grrrr, grrrr and double grrrr.

You can't make a child eat. Fruit won't hurt. Let him have it. Then nap and then some toast or fruit when he gets up, followed by a proper tea.

It takes us all time to ajust to new routines, more so kids.

Perhaps your ds is too tired? My ds liked to nap in the mornings and when he was coming up to 2 I started moving his nap back slowly, 15 mins a day untill it was about 12.00 and he could have lunch before that. But for a while, he was just too tired to eat lunch properly, so I just gave him tea earlier at about 4. After a while it sorted itself out.
