Help! When do I start potty training.

My DS is now 2 1/2. He shows as far as I can tell no signs of wanting to potty train apart from occasionally telling me when he has done something and having a liking for sitting momentarily on the toilet but not doing anything.
My problem is do I try and potty train him now (I am 5 months pregnant) Or do I wait till the summer when he is a bit older (pre pregnancy original plan) but will have a newborn. He needs to be out of nappies in September as he starts pre school.

I should add that my DD was over 3 before she was potty trained - don't know if it is heredtry (sp?)

You could start now, by offering the toilet at regular intervals, and by letting him be nappy free for increasing intervals with a potty near. If he is ready, then it'll be apparent, if not, you haven't lost anything and will still be introducing the concepts easily

I'd wait for summer, tbh unless he is actually showing signs of wanting to do it before.

I do think late/early potty training seems t be hereditry t some extent. I knw a family of fur children who all pretty much trained themselves day and night before they were two.

Mine on the other hand.....dd1 and 2 I bowed under peer pressure and tried at 2.6. It was a disaster, and both were over 3 in the end.

DS will be 3 this week and is just starting to be interested.
