To Swaddle or Not to Swaddle???

Ok...my bab is now 3 nearly months, & I've been using swaddling very successfully to get him to sleep up to 7 hours through the night...

but all the books I've read are saying that this is the peak age for cot death, & I should be only half-swaddling if at all to reduce the risk of overheating. Problem is my DS flails around so much with his arms if theyre not bound up that he's just impossible to calm down

advice please?

Its common sense I think - I still swaddle my 3 month old but then the room hes in can get very cold in the middle of the night so I know he wont overheat.

That works for me personally but only you know what works/your baby/your gut reaction/the room temp etc

I swaddled all four of my kids for at least 6 months - using the large muslin squares if there was any danger of it being hot. I kept their rooms fairly cool and just added or removed layers according to common sense.

They were all great sleepers, which I attribute to a large degree to the swaddling.
