You know when you think you've got an area sussed, and your dc throw you? aarrggghhhh
OK, Im a huge believer in NOT potty training children, thats is I believe that if you let them, they'll potty train themselves, with the minimum of fuss as long as you encourage them when you see the 'window' of opportunity.
Dd3 however, isn't playing the game, lol.
I have 3 dd's. My older daughters potty trained themselves with encouragement, but it was no big deal. I left a potty around the house and when they started to show an awareness of first doing a wee or poo and then an awareness of needing a wee or poo, I encouraged them to use the potty. No problems.
Dd3, however, knows when she needs a wee and will tell me that she needs one, she knows when she needs a poo and will tell me she needs one, but she absolutely will not sit on the potty
She knows she needs to go, but will hop and jiggle about and then 'go' on the floor.
If I try to make her sit on the potty, she gets upset
Obviously I don't want her to be upset, but in the same vein, if she's showing awareness, I feel that I should encourage potty use. What do I do?
I don't want to put her off, but equally, I don't want to miss the opportunity if she's showing she's ready.
WWYD? Keep encouraging her, or put the potty away for now altogether?
