Ds is 8 and during the school week goes to bed at 8.30 - lights out at 9pm.
Dd is 10 and goes an hour later at 9.30 - lights out at 10pm.
Does this sound fair enough? One boy in dd's class is in bed asleep by 8.30 and he's 10!
At the weekend they go at any old time really and in the holidays they are turning night into day! Do any of you follow rigid bedtimes, even if there's no school next day?

My son is 8 next month and goes to bed at 7. Sometimes allowed to read for 15-20 minutes. Is probably ready to go a bit later as he doesn't go straight to sleep but I think he benefits from quiet time in bed before sleep tbh.

guess depends if yr 8 and 10 struggle to get up each morning for school and are grumpy/grotty etc

i think 10pm is a bit late for a child with school the next morning but some children do need less sleep

its good to have a read and quiet time befoe trying to sleep
