hello, ds2 is 12 weeks and i've been feeding on demand (bf), we haven't got much of a sleep/feed schedule. should we have by now as i think we had more of one with ds1??

he feeds twice in the morning then after 12 feeds around 3-4 times before he goes to bed around 8-10pm, when i try to top him up or give an extra feed with ebm he spits it out or is sick. he is gaining weight slowly is happy, content but only around the 25 centile.. i think he weighs around 14 pounds now based on our home scales...

i try the dream feed at 11 but he doesnt want it. last night he slept from 9pm till 6 this morning and had a feed at 6. its 8.30 now and he's still sleeping. over the weekend he was waking at 1 and 4 before that sleeping until 4-6, so its always changing.

anyway, should i be concerned he should be feeding more and sleeping less as he's quite a sleepy baby even during the day? i don' like to wake him when he's sleeping and if he gets too tired he's a real screamer!

anyway like i said, he seems to be happy, smily, gurgling away, moving lots, should i be worried?
thanks

Hey, it seems your doing a great job, he's happy and gaining weight!
I started to ttry and get a routine about 10 weeks for my sanity after demand feeding and not feeling like i could go anywhere without having to breast feed every 10 minutes! I had to use a dummy to get DD started on waiting for a feed, it worked like a charm Was going every four hours and started to sleep from 10.30pm to 5am, would feed again and go back to sleep until I woke her at 7.30am. Trying to get her to take most of her milk requirements in the day which worked for us but as you know all babies are different!! Good luck!

sounds wonderful to me! i'd take your cue from him, if it's working for you why change it? he sounds lovely

I would only put him in a routine if you want to, if what you are doing works for you then I wouldn't bother, he is probably more posseting the extra feed than actually being sick (is the milk looking pretty much the same as when it went in? sleeping 9 - 6 is good for a baby of only 12 weeks
