Hiya,

I've bought a couple of 2nd hand bumgenius to try (I'm replacing my bamboozles as my son is too wriggly now). Where is the best (cheapest) place to get them from?

TIA

That's better!

Not aware of any offers on at the moment, prob just a case of trawling anppy sites to see who has the best deal but would imagine as they're so popular that the prices will be pretty standard.
Best deals tend to be on the preloved ones

be careful buying any on ebay as there are some fakes about - really! The laminate peels of and they are useless. No new bg are sold oficially on ebay at all so you will have no guarantee. Prices are pretty std - the more you buy the cheaper you can get them.

I'm also looking to replace my Bamboozles and have just ordered a couple of BGs, the prices are pretty much the same everywhere but some places do discounts for bulk. Take a peek here.

I just bought 20 from nappyzone and she gives a very nice discount for mumsnet users... they turned up today and are SOOOOO cute

Ooh, I like the sound of a mumsnet discount! If anyone needs any scientific papers writing I'd be happy to return the favour + [useless job] icon!

nappyzone - how many do you think I'd need? I've got 4 at the moment and my little boy is 16 months old. I'm going to keep him in disposables at night because he sleeps soooooo long and wees a lot!

Oh and I'll probably put him in sposies 1 day a week when he's at his nana's house.

18 is probably a good number to have if you are using disposables at night, I have 18 bamboozles (and some night nappies) and that's fine for us. I was every other day (sometimes it's 3 days though). If you're planning on washing less often then a few more would be handy.

BGs are one of the most babysitter-friendly reusables, it's quite possible that his nana will get on just fine with them. In terms of changing there is really very little difference with disposables. She'd just need to put them in a wet bag to send home with him.

nappyzonehasastroppytoddler · 12/02/2009 17:08

I would think 4/5 a day you would need so depends how often you want to wash...

ziggyf · 12/02/2009 18:01

I do a wash almost every day so I guess 6 or 8 might be enough then? Definitely don't have the budget for 18!!

Nappyzone how do I order from you? Are you allowed to say your website on here?

I linked to Nappyzone's site earlier in the thread.

As for numbers, just get what you can afford for now, each time he wears a reusable it saves you cash so you'll be able to build your supply up over time. I'm not sure how much disposables cost, but I bet the price of 2 or 3 packs would cover the cost of a BG.

Reusable wipes would save you a fortune too, you can buy all sorts of fancy ready made wipes and solutions to wet them with, but TBH, flannels and plain water are ideal.

Oh, and maybe it's been mentioned already, but a lot of councils have reusable nappy initiatives. It's well worth checking, every little helps!
