Cut short your long weekend away if your daughter and her one month old baby had both been threatened to be hit by her partner and she needed to get out of there?

Yes.

I would do it for a friend as well though...

dropinthe · 10/04/2005 09:05

TiredBunny · 10/04/2005 09:05

Without a doubt.
Are you ok?

posyhairdresser · 10/04/2005 09:07

Wouldn't everyone?

Flossam · 10/04/2005 09:07

DP has offered to get the train down there and collect her and baby. It is his sister. Her parents are away at the coast a couple of hours drive away.

Good for dp

iota · 10/04/2005 09:10

depends on the situation and who else is around to help.

beansprout · 10/04/2005 09:11

He threatened to hit the baby?! My God, I'll go down and get her! Grrrrr!

iota · 10/04/2005 09:11

and I have a key to my mum's house so can go there any time I like whether she is in or not

Flossam · 10/04/2005 09:13

a family friend had to do an hours drive to go and collect her and take her to the parents house where she is now we think.

Yes, apparently he did Beansprout. They are both quite young, no probs before baby came, but I think he didn't put much thought into what having a baby would entail and is finding it all a big shock.

MistressMary · 10/04/2005 09:17

Yes sod my long weekend away! There are plenty of long weekends away. If one member of my family was being threratened I would be with them like a shot, no hesitation.

I think it's very difficult to take an accurate judgement without knowing the full circumstances

Flossam · 10/04/2005 09:28

Ok, her DD is 19 yrs old and has a one month old baby. We were supposed to be going to stay there this weekend as they haven't seen our DS since he was 6 weeks old. He is now 21 weeks old. But they booked this weekend away instead, which gutted dp. His DS had this unplanned baby a month ago and since then has been having probs with her partner, who has been drinking all their money and ignoring the baby. Yesterday he apparently threatened to hit her and the baby and also throw the kitten off the balcony. They are, as I said, a couple of hours drive away.
