It is very upsetting for all of us. We live in a very close knit community and have been friends with this couple for 20 years - both are the nicest people one could know and tehre was no inkling of a problem. We were all pregnant with our first child together and dd and this girl have been friendly since pre-school at 1.5 yrs old. they are now both 12 years old.

I don't think dd knows yet as she has been at a friend's house all day and at a sleepover.

We do a school rota with this girl too and I want to prepare dd to be supprotive and sympathetic and to help her friend. Dd generally finds emotional stuff difficult and cries at teh drop of a hat. her friends is very different and bieng super intelligent ( her friend - gifted even) likes to talk stuff out and rationalise and feels things very deeply.

Some pointers would be great.....
