Has anyone made their own wrap before- come tell me your experiences please.

Ok, so I am just toying with this idea at the moment.

There are just soo many slings/wraps/carriers around that it is doing my head in trying to decide what to buy.

Some of the wraps look nice and snuggly for baby but it seems a lot of money to spend on something that is essentially a long piece of fabric.

So what I need to know is;

what fabrics have you used - and liked the most?

And

Is it as easy to do as it looks? - can I get some instructions somewhere (do I need any?)

And any other practical tips/advice you could give me would be great.

Forgot to add, this will be for my little man who is due on April 8th. And I generally tend to have small babies my first was 6.4 and my last was 5.12.

Not sure if that makes a difference.
