He won't tell me that he needs to wee or poo!

My ds is 2.5 years and we have tried to potty train for the past few months. The first time we went cold turkey, and he had no clue what was going on.
He now sits on the toilet sveral times a day after lots of encouragement from me. He does pee and even poo on the toilet, which is great. Unfortunetly though he never tells me that he needs to pee or poo and if i don't force him to sit on the toilet he would haappily do it in his nappy and not tell me that hes done it. Im not sure what to do, will he ever tell me that he feels a pee or poo is coming???

dd2 is 2.5 as well and will tell me when she's done a poo (in her nappy)

She'll wee in the potty/toilet (but only when she's not wearing a nappy)

She's nowhere near ready yet, IMO

When she can tell me she needs a poo or needs a wee I'll take her out of nappies

They're still babies, really

Basically what is happening is that sometimes your DS is lucky enough to be on the toilet at the same time as he needs to pee or poo and sometimes he isn't.

It doesn't sound as if he is quite ready yet. Why not leave it for a few weeks and then see if its any better. But then I might just be being a bit smug, DS aged 2.11 finally on Saturday announced that he didn't want to wear nappies any more and it has been so much less stressful than the previous times where he was upset without his nappy and didn't seem to make much progress. If you can bear to wait then keep encouraging him but let the impetus come from him.
