Your challenge should you choose to accept it, is to build the best wooden train track you can, then post a picture on your profile.

The winner's prize...fame and notoriety!

Good luck!

So it's an all round improving activity then dragonbutter - first learn new french swearwords and then see whether the caterpillar knows them. Hours of fun.

(as it happens, the friend who I think holds the current record on our caterpillar would be good for the french one as well!)

dragonbutter · 06/02/2009 11:46

educational!

Oooh, yes you could be the judge! No playmobil !!!

Still, I note that your eldest is 4, so i expect he will soon be getting into Playmobil.... and then there is no turning back

We've hardly any playmobil here either (can't interest DS in it enough to justify buying it) We do have a shedload of Lego here though.

Is there any need to specify the building materials for this type of challenge? Couldn't we just say depict a current news story using any toys at your disposal? (Playmobilers will anyway be at a distinct advantage should there be any major Roman discoveries, or some kind of circus-related scandal )

SoMuchToBits · 06/02/2009 12:36

Anything that involves any rescue services should be fine for us (on both the Playmobil and Lego front!)

stealthsquiggle · 06/02/2009 12:42

PMSL at the circus-related scandal.

Lego re-enactments would be limited to piracy here - and I have enough trouble making DS understand that the Somali pirates on the news are not of the eyepatch and wooden leg variety without then encouraging it.

Anyone got a Playmo/Lego cargo ship that could be attacked by pirates ?

SoMuchToBits · 06/02/2009 12:44

We have a Playmo cargo ship, but no pirates!

We have one pirate keyring (came free with an order). I don't think he'd be much of a threat though, especially with all the police we have....

dragonbutter · 06/02/2009 12:56

just working on my la chenille ABC.
so far, merd, fout and bastard are making him giggle.
i'm a bit stuck for more though.

fwiw, i didn't buy it in french because i'm some sort of pushy mum expecting bilingual children for no good reason, it was a present from a french cousin.

I'm afraid my French swearing isn't up to much...

stealthsquiggle · 06/02/2009 13:04

Ha ha - got you hooked, Dragonbutter

SoMuch - Midlands. Our pirates are a motley mix of Lego and Playmobil but we have lots of Playmo knights who could be conscripted.

SoMuchToBits · 06/02/2009 13:27

Ah - we're in Suffolk. Quite a long way for the Playmo pirates and knights to travel. Do you think our robbers could masquerade as pirates?

dragonbutter · 06/02/2009 13:33

stealth is this common knowledge about the caterpillar?
do we need to make a public service announcement on mumsnet?
it could be the friday afternoon challenge.

Go for it, DB - I really really need to go and do some work/ have some lunch / negotiate with DH as to who is looking after DD this pm (nursery closed)

It has come as a surprise to all caterpillar owners I have told about it so far and we found it by accident (which says something about the sick working of our DH's minds)
