Hi

Ive posted before about that fact that i have a set of cotton bottoms nappies. The prefolds didnt seem to be absorbing as they'd leak through to the outer and often out onto her clothes.

We all came to the opinion that the prefolds werent absorbing anymore (were 2nd hand) so i have bought a couple of NEW prefolds.

They still do the same! going insane here! No matter what i do, even these new ones dont absorb enough!

They are the same style as the bambino mio ones.

Im desperate to use re-usables but DD is only 9 weeks old so cant wee that much!!!!

A friend had leaky prefolds, she changed the way she was folding and it helped. there's a folding guide on www.twinkleontheweb.co.uk/. hope that helps, have only used two parters and pockets myself.

Hi hop,

Yeh i've tried lots of different ways - including the boys way and they just wont work for us! Am really annoyed, i counted how many disposables we've used in 5 days and it was 51! Makes me feel ill knowing how bad these are.

I'm currently trying to get hold of the company i bought the 2 new prefolds from to complain!!!! Grr!!

I have never really got on with prefolds with either of my boys, but I have found pad folded terry nappies work well for both of them. I've come to the conclusion that terry fabric just seems more absorbant than the cotton that prefolds are made from.

Prefold nappies shouldn't lose their absorbancy through age (unless they've gone thin). In fact the more they are washed the more absorbant they should become. I haven't read your previous thread, but you're not putting fabric softner in the nappy wash. That will reduce absorbancy as will certain barrier/ nappy rash creams.
