i was studying for a degree and was in my final year when due to my own ill health, and family circumstances had to withdraw myself from the course. this was in 2004-is it too late to see about finishing this course off? has this happened to anyone else?

The best thing to do would be to contact the institution where you did the degree.

Usually the credits you obtained will count as prior learning - it will depend on the degree type though, usually there will be a time limit or only some of the courses you took will count etc.

Do you have a medical note on your student file to from when you withdrew? If so then special circumstances may apply so you may be given a concession and be allowed to maintain credits taht you wouldn;t have if you had just dropped out.

Good luck

email your course tutor - plead your case.

I withdrew in Feb 08 and am now retaking the semester - good luck x

If you passed the first two years, then you should have those credits banked depending on how you withdrew. Best to email the institution and see what they say. You may have to fund the last year yourself if you go back though. Don't transfer the course unless you really have to as that can be problematic.

Apparently Mick Jagger is still on intercalculation from the LSE after something like 40 years so you're not alone .

Some institutions have a deadline by which you need to complete the course - 5 or 6 years, or so. You need to contact the institution asap and find out where you stand. You may be able to go back as a finalist, with your credits banked, and just pick up the credits you lack.

Hope it works out for you.
