Had sex on day 8 of my cycle, not thinking I would get pregnant.

We sent my parents home after having them to stay for 2 weeks, the celebratory sex resulted in DD

Saying that, that is how we conceived DS two years later as well so I am not sure if that helps you at all.

erm - I had a mirena coil in place at the time (I am told this is not an easy one to replicate though )

Forget to collect contraceptive pill from surgery. Had sex. Had DD 9mths later.

I did the same as Idris...was very surprised, but I knew it'd be a girl due to when we did the deed and when I knew my ovulation would be. Girl sperm are slower swimmers and have more stamina than boy ones(that never changes does it!)that swim faster and die off quicker, leaving the girls to get there at the right time.
Of course there's no guarantee...

There is also info on the net re certain douches to make the vagina 'right' for girl/boy baby making, but no idea if they work.

Don't have sex within 2 days before ovulation.Hot bath for DH before the deed - apparently kills off weakling male sperm. Woman on top supposed to mean they have further to swim than in missionary
