My dh is terrified by nippas and calls them "the claw". The only way I really got through to him about cloth nappies was showing him how much emptier the bin was after two weeks of using cloth. I have some bumgenius aio's for him to use when doing the changes.

BouncingTurtle · 02/02/2009 18:48

Dunno... all mine are velcro or poppers!
I've used nippas but don't have nippa nappies left! I suggest you hide all the sposies!

My dp is ok at actually putting the nappies on dd's 3 & 4 but he is no good at the washing and sorting out of them! I literally have to say "right this is for dd4 she has a wrap and fleece liner" and he will do it. He brags to everyone who will listen that we use cloth though

afterglow are you on clothnappytree under the same name?

BouncingTurtle · 02/02/2009 18:53

That is pretty much the same with me and Dh! Dh does his fair share of nappy changes though I do stuff them all ready for him.

thisisyesterday · 02/02/2009 18:57

no tips i'm afraid, although I have to admit I hate using nippas too! lol

i would just get rid of all the disposables and MAKE him learn

afterglow · 02/02/2009 21:53

Yes! I have a nappy on its way to you, I think!

4andnotout · 02/02/2009 21:55

Yep thats me
Im absurdly excited about it!

WundaWuman · 02/02/2009 23:03

having no dispos in sight is the only answer, my DP is sooo lazy...

ilovemydogandMrObama · 02/02/2009 23:09

DP is actually quite good at doing cloth nappies, but have noticed that everything has to be in the proper place.

He actually commented that I forgot to use a liner a few days ago....

we were given various 'posh' washables - ones with velcro etc - from lovely thoughful friends before dd was born that were basicly dh's... when dd grew out of them i told him how much they cost and he quickly learnt how to put on a terry and some plastic pants!
I think generally men can feel extremely scared of new babies and 'getting it wrong' so easing him into it with a few posh wahables might be a good way forward?

thumbwitch · 02/02/2009 23:24

ours mostly use the nippas - DH is not too bad at it but never really puts the effort into getting it just right; frequently when I take the wrap off the nappy just falls off too. I reckon that it is the ol' "if I do it really badly I won't be asked again" ploy though. Doesn't work!

Those nippas are evil though - I was changing DS the other day and the nippa fell on the floor; I went to pick it up just as he stood on the other end of it and it ripped through the skin on my fingertip, blood everywhere and me wailing. I have a nice 1cm mark now - don't know how long it will last...
