How to keep a 1 year old happy

If the snows really bad tomorrow it will mean that me and my ds will find it hard to go out tomorrow to his baby group so we'll probably have stay in all day until the snow clears.

Any ideas how to entertain a 1 year old and keep him happy? we have lots of toys and books to play with, I just think he'll go stir crazy if just stay in all day if not me too!!!

lots of variety - singing, reading, radio, dance, watch snow & traffic/people out of window, toys (rolling a ball, towers of bricks, musical things etc etc), peekaboo, water play in bathroom,

oh and don't forget its not actually illegal to let them watch the TV!

Hide and seek is a winner with my DS. I hide behing a door frame/sofa/corner and say where's Mummy, and he comes giggling after me.

Thanks for the ideas. Fingers crossed it doesn't snow too hard

Even if you can't take him to baby group (presumably because driving is difficult) surely you can take him out? Just wrap him warm, make sure he is wearing hat and gloves. Snow doesn't necessarily make it colder anyway.

Give him the run of your kitchen cupboards.

Throw all the sofa cushions and all the soft toys in a pile on the floor and let him climb and bounce.

A bath in the middle of the day (make yourself a cup of tea first).

Cleaning (he gets a babywipe, you get the heavy-duty cleaning materials!).

A large cardboard box.

Sit him at the top of the stairs behind the stair gate with a big tub of small objects. When he's lobbed them all down, collect them up and let him do it again.
