Ds is 2.3 and yesterday morning we said he didn't want to wear nappies anymore. He has had plenty of signs of being ready for a while it was just there was always something going on which meant I wasn't ready to dedicate anytime to it. Anyway yesterday decided to just ditch the nappy and see what happened. Well he was a little super star! almost 100% success rate. Today however he has peed on the floor 3 times already. I know this is expected, just feel a little dispondant as he did so well yesterday. Any words of wisdom or encouragement. Do i offer rewards or just loads of praise? And any top tips for getting out and about? Did school run in pants yesterday and this morning but that is only a 5 min walk from home. Got toddler group tomorrow....

I agree with you about trying not to confuse the issue.

we had to go to town today and dh also suggested putting a pull up on - we did this and as soon as the nappy was on DS went and did a poo - almost as though he liked the security of his nappy and decided to take advantage of the familiar.

I think that whenever possible i will keep him in pants now though - got to go cold turkey sooner or later

We have gone cold turkey. Ds has not worn nappy in the daytime since last tuesday. Night time nappy has been dry when he woke up last 2 mornings and he asked for a wee straight after getting up. Not going to entertain the idea of leaving it off but it is a good sign that he is getting control. We were out and about all day yesterday, football match in morning and grandma's in the afternoon. Had one accident at grandma's and one just before bath time. I have found that he can go a couple of hours easily between wees unless he has a had loads to drink so I get him to go before we go out like you would with any young child.

I am bringing potty and a couple of changes of clothes with me if I am going to be out for more than a quick pop to school or shops etc.
