Few questions re cloth nappies

Just sorting through nappies etc before birth of DC3. I always used liners from PHP, found those good, but before I order them was wondering if there are any other recommendations or if I should consider using fleece?

Also, never previously soaked nappies, but added some nappy soak (again PHP) into each wash. Is this necessary??

Thanks for any advice. Feeling a bit rusty!

Newborns would be much better off with fleece, as it still soaks away some of the pooey liquid where as paper just smears it all over the place and i've heard it can cause leaks. Fleece keeps wet away from bum where as paper won't, and i'd much prefer fleece on my bum, must feel lush!

I don't soak or add anything to the wash, just a small amount of either bio or non-bio powder, sometimes some vinegar but i'm still unsure whether it's making anything softer.

For lovely paper liners, go see Flamesparrow at Bumfluff - she stocks Bambinex liners which are a lovely size (smaller/narrower than many) and way nicer than other liners I've tried. The Earthlet ones are nice too, and washable if just wet (then reusable!) and flushable - but a bit bigger.

(I'm not a fan of fleece, I find it makes my boy go pink at the edges).
