DS is just 2 and he is ridiculously somewhat clingy. We are due no3 in August so have decided that DS should go to playgroup to broaden his horizons slightly. I am also hoping that in the long term it will help us to stop co-sleeping in readiness for the new arrival. He has never been anywhere without me before.......

Pleas give me a virtual hand hold

Good luck

DS3 started preschool two weeks ago. Must say I was a little miffed at how quickly he went in there without a backward glance.

Anyway good luck for drop off, I usually just hand them over and do a runner - not helpful really.....though I do remember with DS2 not being confident that there were enough staff to deal with all the crying children on day 1, so I invited myself in and stayed for 1/2 hour which made us both feel better.

I think I'll drop off and run, thats the best for both of us I reckon.

Right, its time to go

drop and run is what we've done so far (2 weeks in) - she was fine in week 1 but week 2 she is wise to us and has screamed... for about 20 secs..... but still agony to listen to

suwoo · 26/01/2009 16:46

He cried for about 3 minutes, but stayed with the nursery worker for about an hour. The 2nd hour he played on his own- result!

I expect though, Gladders, we'll have a similar situation to you and he'll get worse.
