DS1 is 3.1, has been wearing pants for a week or more (ones that he chose with a Thomas Tank theme) and will sit on the toilet/potty when prompted (although needs cajoling if in midst of play) and has only told me a couple of times that he needs to go. I usually notice the signs and ask him to go otherwise he will do it in his pants. He doesn't like poo and hides when he needs to, i have suggested that he take the potty into his 'hiding place' and this has worked but again, i'm instigating the potty here not him. I make a big fuss and his brother claps for him etc.. and he is beaming from ear to ear so it seems right. We have gone from 'mummy i'm going to wear nappies forever' to 'i got big boy pants' which i believe is a good sign but am i trying to soon? I know he turned 3 last month but he also has a 2 year old brother and a 6 month old brother and with all the disruption to his little life i didn't want to push with the toilet thing too early and unsettle him.
DS2 wants to wear pants all the time and asks for the potty and gets quite cross if i insist on a nappy (sheer laziness as i find it hard at times with 3 little ones who were just all under 3) if i'm not in the room he just takes it off and wees/poos on potty byself, big brother not the same.
Advice anyone? Took him out in car first time in pants a few days ago. Asked him on road if he needed a wee, he said he did and so we stopped and he did - much cheering in car and very happy boy - but again all from our side....help?
