Are Bumbles reusables any good for a 2.6YO fairly heavy wetting boy?

I have decided I'd like to try out reusables for my DS and read good reviews about these anyone have first hand experience?

Have only ever used diisposables and just fancy trying them out as he uisn't ready to potty train yet.

A few questions too

How many do I need?
What extras do you need to buy?
How do I know about sizes?
What do I wash them in?
Where is the best place to buy and what are the best brands?

He is a normal built 2.6YO really he's not at all chubby but he's not skinny either IYKWIM.

bumbles are good yes. I would have maybe, 10 or so?
you will need the nappies themselves, and some wraps to go over the top (the waterproof bit). I would recommend motherease airflow ones.

size 2 should be fine for him.

just wash them with a little bit of washing powder (couple of tbsp), but no fabric softener or anything

babykind are quite good place to buy

Buy secondhand rather than go to the expense of new ones at this late stage.I have a couple I will send you for postage to start you off if you like

Ooh are they the size I need lillypie?

Do I need boosters for these? Will try and get boosters and wraps cheapish too

Thanks how much would postage be?

Yes the size will be fine but they will need boosting and a wrap.

I would recomend large Motherease Airflow too.they are pretty much bomb proof.

2.00 should cover postage ok.
CAT me with your details and I will let you know my pp addy

Waitrose has the ME Airfow wraps for £5.50. They only have plain white and S, M or L. (No M/L or XL).

mamadiva · 26/01/2009 09:38

Thanks mumoftoby, not sure what size I would need may be better with XL I tnk? Not sure ARGH. LOL.

lillypie have catted you.

I'm not really sure what size you would need my son is 27 months old - he is 15.5 kilos (not chubby or skinny too) and fits comfortably into the Large (they aren't even on the largest popper size settings yet on the waist).

I have just ordered another large ME airflow wrap in savannah from butterfly-babies.co.uk so that I have 2 for him now(they have a 40% off sale on all real nappies and wraps as they are no longer going to sell them). They might also have boosters.

I have ordered a size 3 tots bots fleece wraps for him too for overnight but not sure if we will get leaks with those.

mamadiva · 26/01/2009 10:10

Which reusables do you use? if you don't mind me asking.

Sorry about all the questions LOL.

Just don't want to go buying crap ones. Am between bumbles but I also like the Bumgenius one size? Going by the reviews on here theyare good.

I am being sent some Wonderoos (by an unbelievably kind mumsnetter). I am far from an expert and only started using cloth this week - with some cheap fluffles and cotton tots bots from tk maxx. But I am very happy with them so far. I bought the nappi nippas (however, they are also really cheap at butterfly babies), boosters and liners from kittykins and it arrived really fast and was only £1.50 postage if that is any help?

I thought about Bumgenius but as both of my boys are already quite big I was just going to get the sized ones? (until I found the tots bots really cheap and am struggling a little on maternity pay!) But as I said I am a novice at this too, I am sure someone experienced will be more help.

lillypie · 26/01/2009 10:46

I use totsbots mainly but also have fluffles little lambs bumbles and some pockets.
Bumbles are good value.I think large wraps will be big enough.

I haven't received a CAT but sometimes they take ages. If you like you can email [email protected]
