My ds seems to aways fall out with friends

I really can,t stand it but my ds just always seems to get into arguments with friends and then he will go in a right strop and rant that he hates them etc.
I know that my ds can be an awkward little so and so and he can be quite posesive about his toys, belongings etc if anyone else has got them.
This has led to my ds falling out with mates.
I just cannot bear any of his moods when he comes stomping in sometimes in tears that this or that person has done this or that.
It drives me mad does anyone else find this with their ds.
He is 8 and an only.

How do you react to him when he comes in in a strop?

In my bible ('How to talk so children will listen') it says really good techniques for when your child is all stroppy and they want you to listen, then they sort out their own solutions to the problem.
