Am v. excited as my brand new nappies have arrived today. Have ordered a selection to see what I get on with. I have : bumgenius pocket one size v3.0; itti biti d'lish AIO with additional booster set and mini booster; thirsties shaped and a flexitot + motherease rikki wrap and flexiwrap. I know they need washing b4 use-but how many times, what temp and do I need to use washing powder???
Also, just to double check-need a wrap on the flexitot and the thirstie but not on the bumgenius and the itti bitti??
Also, I read something about needing to fold the inserts in the itti bitti-is this right and if so how do I do it??
Would love some advice/words of encouragement from all the seasoned real nappy users out there!

Am not seasoned at all (use Motherease Airflow wraps around bamboo terry squares or shaped totsbots, never tried the others) but when they were new I just gave everything a quick rinse at 40, with no detergent. In fact I don't think I even bothered to do that with the new size wrap I got recently.
Waiting to hear from more expert voices though!

Thanks puddock. Anyone else any advice?

I put my flexitots on a 60 deg wash with a teeny bit of detergent first go, then ran them through 3 30 deg speed washes one after the other (no drying in between) just to get them going. Apparently it takes 10 plus washes to get them to full absorbency, but I couldn't justify the time or electricity to wash clean nappies that many times

Did you buy the Itti brand new? If so a wash of the inserts at 60 and then a couple of normal washes, I never bother washing the outers when they're new but most prob would. You should have received a big square insert with purple poppers, this should be attached to the nappy by the poppers and then folded. If you're using on a newborn you'll only need the folded insert on its own, put a fleece liner over it, you can use the fleecy liner with the mini booster attached without a fleece liner.

Oh and no, no need for a wrap on it.

I washed my nappies (on a quick wasy) about 3-5 times before use with no detergent.

You do need a wrap over your flexitot. Either the flexi-wrap or your motherease wrap will do. I've only used bamboozles and flexitots so cant give any advice on the others!
