ds3.5 suddenly having accidents

ds 3.5 has been fully toilet trained since last summer, he did take about 6 months from we started til he eventually got the hang of it but he has been fine ever since. however recently he hasnt been making it to the toilet on time, he had an accident in nursery on wednesday and has even wet the bed the other night. a friend said its probably the cold weather. i dont want to just put it down to this incase theers an underlying cause. i have asked him wht he didnt get to the toilet but he just says 'sorry mummy its an accident'. has anyone else experienced this in winter or is this rubbish?

I am in a similar position, DS is 3.10 and was becoming reliable on the whole to the point that we breathed a big sigh of relief and put potty training behind us. Now he has just had a terrible fortnight with 2 accidents a day and bed wetting when he hardly ever did that in the past. Having read my toddler book, I have two theories - one is a UTI - will take him to the doctor early next week if still not settled and the other is the return to pre-school after the christmas holidays with some extra hours making him stressed and tired. I hadn't thought of the cold weather but it has been much warmer this week and things aren't getting better here. Hope you get your DS sorted soon and that someone else comes along with some words of wisdom for both of us

hadnt actally considered the return to school as being a factor. i do know he has been more tired in the evening. perhaps just settling backinto a routine will solve it.
