has anyone else had this? My hair looked amazing when i was pg, then after, fell out! And my dd has pulled a lot of it out too! Now i have a brand new fringe coming which sticks up whilst the rest of my hair goes down as its dead straight! I look like a lion, it goes from one side of my head to another! What can i do about it!?

Absolutely normal! Just wait for it to grow, I'm afraid... Think of it as a halo, if it helps.

whomovedmychocolate · 15/01/2009 20:06

Nothing - it will pass after about six months, it's just new hair growth following hormonal changes. You can try leave in conditioner to make it less spikey.

I'm lucky, I gain hair during pregnancy and don't lose it afterwards - I look like Cousin It

Oh God I had forgotton about that until I saw this thread. Happened all 3 times. Worst around 8-9 months after the birth.

Hairdresser once commented on it.

Ugh.

Oh mine did this. A whole new hairstyle going on underneath the old one

It's grown out now, hair is much thicker again thank goodness. It was crap for a while after he was born. Cutting it all off can help if it would suit you that way? (doesn't suit me, why oh why did I do it twice...)

crumpet · 15/01/2009 20:08

Yes, very normal (and also you may find that you have sticking up hair elswhere on your head - I thought it was hair breakign which caused it, until my hairdresser confirmed it was just new growth). It is annoying but does pass!

waiting4bambino · 15/01/2009 20:12

No! I couldnt cut my hair! It's right down my back and i think my face is too fat for short hair!!! I've thought about cutting the fringe but i dont want to look any more freakish than i do now!! I've not noticed it on any of the yummy mummys at the playgroup! Swines!

This happened to me too -it drove me mad.

I've never noticed it on anyone else before so its interesting that it seems to be quite common.

HelenBurns · 15/01/2009 20:16

My new hair was mainly underneath my old hair, so if I lifted up my fringe I could see it, very freaky! Thankfully other people couldn't...

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 15/01/2009 20:19

Yes - I've got it too! DS2 is 7 1/2 months old and mine's getting quite noticeable now

NorbertDentressangle · 15/01/2009 20:21

HelenBurns -I didn't have a fringe at the time so I couldn't even hide it.

I used to try and brush it to one side, under the long hair but it never worked.

Jacksmama · 15/01/2009 20:25

I have one. Isn't it lovely?

Kidding. It drives me mad. I have new growth sticking up along my part. It looks ridiculous.

Darkmere · 22/01/2009 16:41

Oh god I have this. And the worst thing about it is that the hair that has grown back is mostly white

giantkatestacks · 22/01/2009 18:36

darkmere - same here. Mine tufts up at the front...it looks absolutely rubbish like some sort of reverse mullet.

Guadalupe · 22/01/2009 18:38

It's so annoying isn't it. Mine has only just joined in with the rest of my hair and ds2 was 2 yesterday!

Darkmere · 22/01/2009 22:08

GKS I just hate it... and its only on one side.. like Cruella!

giantkatestacks · 22/01/2009 22:10

god I have that too - its like the lady that was in Bergerac/Doctor Who and then Eastenders though I cant remember her name...and I always thought it was freakish - serves me right - have been hit by bad hair karma.

Dalrymps · 22/01/2009 22:17

I have this too, very annoying. Most of it is hidden under old hair thankfully. It's not that long so far, i'll be preggers with the next one by the time it joins the old har me thinks. I just batter it doen with my straighteners.

Darkmere · 22/01/2009 22:21

And I really didn't notice my hair being that great while pg either.. so have nothing to make up for.

Bonnycat · 23/01/2009 07:37

I have this too, dont have a fringe usually so it looks like one of those really short ones when children have got hold of scissors and done it themselves -lovely
