How many do you have and what age gaps and how do you find it?

I had my first at 36, my 2nd at 37 and am desperate for a 3rd. DH not sure and he's not ready to think about it yet. DC2 is 6 months old and I'm going to be 40 next year.
Just wondering how long I've realistically got

Thankyouandgoodnight, I had my dd at 36 and ds at 38, there are 20 months between them. It has been bloody hard work and looking back I wish I had started my family in my early thirties. I would say if you are thinking about having no. 3 then go for it now as in my experience having young kids in your 40s is knackering.

I had DS1 at 37, DS2 13 months later and DD 15 months after that. I left it a bit late and wanted to be finished by 40. It's an abitrary date but was important to me for some reason.

thankyouandgoodnight come on over to 40+ Mommies in the pregnancy folder. We're all 40 or older (except me, I'll be 40 5th Feb) and are either pregnant or have several children!

Does it matter if it's not first child?

If not, I had my 6th at 37, 7th at 38, 8th at 40 and 9th at almost 44.

Pregnancies/births straightforward.
Life and stuff not really different to having the other children when I was younger.

Am 39 and have one DS of nearly 21 months. Am desperate for another DC but have had two recent mcs.
I am worried these happened because of my age. I am so cared I ma no longer ovulating are that my eggs are no longer of as good qaulity as they used to be.
Nevertheless we are still trying. I ideally wanted to have my second by the time I was 40 but this may not happen now. I just want another child, it doesn't matter when.

Had my dd at 38. Then a gap of 2 years and 8 months and my ds just two weeks before my 41st birthday.

I am just about the oldest mum I know, but only by a few months.

I honestly don't think I've found it any more tiring than I would have done if I'd had them 10 years younger. 40 is not that decrepit!

Gateau I had 2 m/c before my last baby and 2 after. So that's 4 losses out of 5 pgs after 40.
However, I have also had 4 m/c before 36y so although the rate of m/c increased after 40 I do seem to be one of those people who m/c anyway.
All you can do is keep trying and hope that one 'sticks'. That was how I felt anyway.
Good luck

I had DD1 at 41 and DD2 28 months later when I was 3 months off 44! It's fine!!

Gateau · 13/01/2009 13:07

Thank you very much juuule. You have given me a lot of encouragement.
I too had a mc before I was 36, so maybe I too am a person who miscarrys.
Wow, you have nine children. How wonderful!
I wish I had started early in order to have more children; mind you, going by you, I could potentially still do so!
