What are the odds of a bicycle being stolen?
We are moving to Barcelona this week, and I will take my bicycle with me BUT we won?t have any garage, so it will always be parked in the street, night and day. We will live in a quiet neighbourhood in Eixample. The bicycle is not an expensive one, but it has 2 baby seats, which makes it priceless for me as I can go anywhere really fast .
So what do you think? Any suggestions?

I assume you will be locking it up securely?

yes of course, one or two chains. But this may be enough in Luxemburg or Lugano but certainly not in amsterdam. Where does Barcelona stand??
I need to decide if taking my bicycle with us or leaving it here.

iirc my mates kept their bikes in the flat
is that an option?

not sure it fits in the elevator (6th floor) ,even up side down.

I am from "near" Barcelona, well around 60miles inland, and I wouldn't trust leaving my bike outside in the street. Do you know if you could park it at the lobby of the flats? In Spain is not that unsual that you can leave your bike/pushchairs at the entrane/lobby of the flats. If the entrance is big enough it could be a solution. Another way of securing your bike, you might be able to "rent" a space in a paking place, which is very common in Spain as well, people rent just the space to park the car in secure parking space, as usually are guarded. What I don't know how expensive it is. Probably not as expensive as for a car, as you wouldn't need the same room.
