when do kids start going to the dentist?

dd is 18 months and i reghistered her at my nhs dentist when i last went. i have just had a reminder to go but not 1 for dd. should she be seen too?

I think it is from 3 years old though you can take them earlier if you want.

My Ds was about 3 when he went first they just have a quick look its more about them getting used to the room, chair, noise and equiptment

Mine has said bring DD whenever I go just to get used to it - last time she had a little go on the chair (she is 18mo)

DS got his appointment the other day, he's 16mo - think it depends on your dentist; as Theirmum says it's about getting them used to the place rather than having concerns about their teeth. As it is, I've changed his appointment and he'll be coming along with me to mine instead.

ds and dd both went to my check ups from an early age (around 6 months or so) just so they could get used to it. They now get their own appointments - dd is 5 and ds is 2.

My dentist says around 2 years.

He will be familiar with it though as we all go together and pile on an armchair in the corner taking turns!

I have always taken my dd to the dentist with me, have let her be in the room each time when I have had my teeth checked and when i had work down to fit a crown.

This way she was happy to actually be seen by the dentisit as she knew mum wasn't scared or frightened and was used to the dentist, he wasn't a stranger and knew that he wouldn't hurt her even if his tools do make lots of noise.

My dd is fine about going to the dentist.

I and all my colleagues did it from 2yrs. Just to let you know your child isn't officially registered until they have had their first appointment and you have signed a claim form that is dispatched, then they get on the nhs list.
