How many books did you look at?

I have a potential billion books I could use... (slight exaggeration) - how am I going to whittle it down?

144 seperate references I think, for my PhD!

What are you researching? Are you just using books or are you going for journal articles too?

Whittling down depends on being very precise about the question you want to answer - evaluating each source as to whether it 'fits' your needs or not. Actually, that is true for my discipline - may not be for yours?

PGCE, small scale enquiry (so small that it's 6 hours taught to 6 kids to see the effect of different levels of support for their SEN on their work)

Need to review lit on SEN, writing, how kids learn to write, issues with it etc... 4000 words.
