I am a pharmacology graduate and have worked in pharmaceuticals since graduating in 2002. In the meantime I have got married and have a 5mo. I really want to do dentistry and would appreciate any advice regarding workload etc for the graduate course in light of the fact that I have a baby. Am a little confused, should I get all my children out of the way then concentrate on studying in a few years time or just go for it (when it may be interrupted?!) Any advice would be appreciated!!

I had a lone parent friend at university when we were studying dentistry. It was tough. I won't lie to you, the work load is big. Her child was school age and she still struggled, I personally wouldn't consider doing it with a baby.

Thanks for the response. I think realistically i will try and complete my family before returning to studying otherwise there will be too many interruptions!I'm assuming that you are now a practising dentist? Would it be possible to pick your brains about the job to make sure it is definitely what I want to do or whether I should consider other options. BTW, did you do the graduate course or the 5 year one?
Many thanks

Have you seen this website? You might get more info from people currently studying.

I'm doing graduate medicine- similar to grad dentistry perhaps. The parents at medical school thread on newmedia might be useful.
