Insanely stupid question

I know babies shouldn't have pillows, but when do they get them? Or, rather, when did your DC get them? And what made you decide to do it?

Mine got them when they were in a bed, so at about 2.5. Only did it for aesthetic reasons and they've only got very slim ones at that.

DS hasn't got one yet and he is 2.5.
They are considered safe from around 12 mths.

Oh good, DD is only just 1, so I don't need to bother for a while yet. Thanks!

they are ok from 1 year and dd had hers from around then. DS actually had a goi goi pillow from a few weeks old (helps prevent and correct flat head syndrome) and had one ever since. They are recommended from birth in Sweden.

DS had his from 8 months. Initially under his cot sheet then over it when he turned a year. We initially gave it to him when he had a bad chest infection, which was combining with his reflux and asthma to turn him into the incredible puking machine

He now has FOUR pillows on his bed, 3 under his head (all very thin and machine washable- I was washing bedding 3 or 4 times a week until he was 2.5 years old) and one on the edge to stand his panda, dummies and water on and to stop the dummies faling down the edge of the bed.

He is slightly pillow obsessed to be honest and also has 2 of those round bead filled ones on his bed too ....

I only gave my ds one at 2 just before made the move to a bed. He'd only been in sleeping bags before this and i hoped it would encourage him to stay at top of bed under a quilt. It didn't!

I think we gace our older two pillow when they each reached about 2 1/2, around the same time that they got a cotbed duvet and then shortly after that moved into the cotbed as a bed.

DD2 is 16 months and sleeps all scrunched up sort of foetal postion but on her front. She is so sweet, she piles up all her teddies and uses those as a pillow, we have been thinking of getting her a pillow to use instead. But somehow it still feels too early. Plus she spins about a bit and until they sort of stay the right way up I'm not sure there's much point.
