swimming nappies

Hi
My baby is 3mths old (has not been weighted for a month so I'm guessing around 12-13lbs)

I want to take her to the swimming pool, however the smallest disposable swim nappies I have seen are huggies for 16lb - 20lb(?).

Has any one come across any smaller ones?

Or is the only choice the reuasable ones?

Any tips welcome too. Also have you taken your baby under water?

Not sure about the nappies, my 2 children are 4 and 2yrs now. I took them both to little dipper classes which specialise in taking them underwater. They both were fine and it is very natural, just dont keep them under for 2 long - now both of mine love the water. Definitely worth starting them early.

I want to get a reusable swimming nappy and have been looking at a Kushie nappy and a Boots nappy. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I thought you should wait for course of first imms to be completed before first swim?

I've used Kooshies and Bema, both bought 2nd hand from eBay, and they're brilliant (and pretty much identical). The disposable ones can be washed as well and reused, but they take forever to dry.

There's a site which is called

By Parents FOr Parents

which has lots of underwater swimming details and they'll let you know about the vaccination stuff too.

thanks for the tips

Flossam - the polio vacination use to be a live vacination which AFAIK was the reason to delay going to the pool - now that has changed (AFAIK in the last 6-9mths) there is no waiting period. Just appears the (disposable) nappy companies have not caught up.

Looks like I will go with the reusables for the time being - got to have a dive buddy in the making
