Moving house with 16 month old - any advice?

We are moving on monday to a new house in a different town. My 16 month old ds has visited the house twice before and it was a positive experience as he played with the landlord's puppy there, so it won't be wholly new to him.

We were wondering if there were any potential problems, or anything we should do to ease the transition for him? Any advice, please?

Hi.

I moved in August with my 19 month old and a 5wk old! Won't be doing that again in a hurry!

Anyway - 19 month old wasn't in the slightest bit fazed. My mum helped us move so we had an extra hand on deck but we just madesure she had a few bits and bats out that she would recognise in her room before bed and made sure we'd had a little play in her room too. She had a blast running round a near-empty house.

Main tips I can offer based on my experience are
-can you make sure he naps in the car? Waking up refreshed might make all the difference.

  • Don't forget to pack food with you in case of some disaster or other (I had visions of the van disappearing on the M62!)
  • Same for any comforters/blankets/special toys
-try to stick to normal routine (not that mine was in any way normal at that point!)

Good luck
