How soon did you take your newborn out and about if they were a winter baby?

I am expecting DS in January. My DD was born in the summer when we were living in a much warmer country so this never really occurred to me...
But how soon after birth did you take your newborn out in the UK winter (to the shops, supermarket, local playgroup, walking the dog etc) and what did they wear?

took him out for walks on the beach mid February in freezing cold at about 3-4 weeks but he loved it and slept which he didn't in the house. I would have gone mad if I hadn't and actually were we were living at the time he was probably warmer.

DD was born end of Jan - Didnt take her out for over 3 weeks. We were living in germany at the time and it was VERY cold and had snowed everyday for about a month. The midwife told me not to take her out, it was just too cold. Plus i had a superbug infection in my cs scar. It was lovely to cocoon ourselves like that, and something i would like to do if im lucky enough to have another child
