Hyde Park winter wonderland - free entry but after that I doubt it will be cheap! You need to book for the ice skating.

Also ice skating at various other places - hampstead Heath, Somerset House, Natural History Museum (which you could combine with dinosaur/blue whale etc visit)

Selfridges Santa Express was fab last year - you need to turn up and book a timed slot for entry on the day which means you don't have to q for ages with little one, just go off and wander/have coffee and cake until your turn...

Grab a copy of Time Out (take a look online maybe) which has listings of events around town - including ideas of things to do with kids. Wasnt that impressed by the Hyde Park winter wonderland last year - Natural History Museum is lovely though (have a 2.8 year old)

Santa at Kew is always lovely. And Kew is great for chilly weather as the plant houses are great, there's the aquarium, a playroom, cafes, shops. and of course lovely lovely grounds to walk round if it's not chilly.
