I have a dd who is 1 on the first of January. We're all going to spend 8 months in Spain next year.

I'm not mad keen on buying her lots of presents for Christma and birthday but it would be useful to have a few things to take to Spain with us as she won't have any toys there. Space in the suitcases is VERY limited.

Can you help me think of a couple of things? Naturally, DD loves anything with bright lights which plays music.

SO far I have a fun books. I was thinking of a glove puppet.

Thanks.

LaT - Hope you are well!!

DD is VERY into maracas ATM which might pack well - could stuff into a shoe or something

Also how about a toddler laptop? Sorry can't do links but toys r us sell them and they will have lights/music etc but will fold flat to go at bottom of suitcase iyswim?

stacking cups if she doesn't already have them - great for stacking, playing in bath, swimming pool beach etc.
Wouldn't bother with glove puppet - mine didn't get into them til much older. Not much play value IME, but could just be my kids.
Finger puppets (cheap in IKEA), were good though...
jigsaw?
maracas good idea. DD was into those little egg shakers at that age.

Thanks Simpson - DD is going mad with maracas too so I think I will take one of those. I'll have a look at the laptop. Lights and msuic sound right up her street.

LadyP - TBH I was playing with a glove puppet at a friends the other day and I wanted DD to like i tmore than she really did. Stacking cups a good idea. Thanks. Finger puppets too. Were they on a glove or individual, just out of interest?

They were 10 individual finger puppets. (Animal set and king/queen/knight/jester etc set) My kids used to like sorting them, putting them in and out bag etc - didn't go on fingers for long really!

inflatable ball - DS loved batting his around at that age and trying to crawl/walk after it - takes up no space at all in cases. Finger puppets also great idea.

LaTurkey · 09/12/2008 17:21

Those are great ideas. I'll probably do them all. Thanks.
