dropping feeds.....

For various reasons (reflux and having to express every feed and going back to work)I have over the last week just given up the 11am feed and I now give my 8 week old baby boy expressed milk at this time. Would it be possible for me to give up his 3pm feed in the afternoon too and give him a bottle then, but still be able to give him his 7am and 7pm feeds from the breast? I have heard mixed stories of whether or not you will have enough milk to do this.... ( He has a bottle of formula at night around 10.30pm anyway). I would really like to be able to still give him some breast milk if at all possible.

I'd be really grateful for any advice on this!

It is possible gd - though what I'd suggest doing is ensure that you keep expressing at your 3pm feed for a while to keep your milk supply up (gradually express less and less) and make sure your little one doesnt overfeed from the bottle (as wont be hungry for the 7pm feed, meaning your supply will go down then).

I gave up feeding my DS at 6 months during the day but did morning and evening feeds no problem. Maybe post on the bottle feeding/breast feeding forum (as the experts lurk there) and you'll get more advice.

Best of luck
