Well I was BF and I bled for around 3 weeks but it started to get lighter after about 2 weeks.

MrsMattie · 07/12/2008 16:21

Good question,. I'm going to ask my doctor tomorrow!

I had a section 3 weeks + 2 days ago and am still bleeding lightly. It has also stopped on a few days and then returned.

I bled for 6 -7 weeks post birth with all 3 of mine, 2 were Csecs.
Then on week 8 post partum with the older two I got my period. Lucky me!

mankyscotslass · 07/12/2008 16:28

Oh, and I BF all of them!

Lubyloo · 07/12/2008 16:30

11 weeks - I didn't think much of this at the time but reading the replies it looks like that is quite a long time.

Phoenix · 07/12/2008 16:36

8 weeks i think. Wasn't BF.

Squitten · 07/12/2008 19:52

4 or 5 weeks I think but it kept coming and going until it finally stopped altogether. 11 weeks on, I've only now got my period (I'm FF)

tistheCEEBEEtobejolly · 07/12/2008 19:55

Ooh you must have read my mind as I was going to post the exact same question

I am 17 days post c-section and still bleeding - but it comes and goes tbh - just when I think it has stopped, it starts again

Looking at these responses, it seems that this is perfectly normal and may go on for some time!!

dontbitemytoes · 07/12/2008 21:21

13 weeks

seemed to stop and then start again if i did any exercise/exerted myself more than just a gentle stroll.

WhatSheSaid · 07/12/2008 21:27

Nearly 10 weeks.

wenceslasmyeducation · 07/12/2008 21:37

4 weeks, also bf, few spots at about 6 weeks, which I think was as I started exerting myself more. Haven't had a period yet, DS now 7 months.

DaidiNaNollag · 07/12/2008 22:17

8 weeks but only lightly at the end

Amapoleon · 07/12/2008 22:29

I bled for about 4 weeks and then my period came back at 6 weeks. It was exactly the same with dd, who was born vaginally and I was breastfeeding both times. I don't think it is on really!

whooosh · 07/12/2008 22:51

I bled for nearly 4 wks,had a week "off" and then had a period.

Can anyone answer me this........why on earth don't the surgeons have a good old" suck out" fo you risides whilst in there getting the baby out??

DP thought I was bleeding to death when I got up a few hours after my C/S-looked like a bloody pig had been slaughtered in my bed.

Would have been so much easier if they had a god old "hoover" whilst at it.

mumhadenough · 07/12/2008 22:54

I agree with you whoosh. I couldn't move for 2 days after my section and when I stood up it was like a haemorrage of all this nasty black blood. DH screamed and ran for a nurse while I stood there open mouthed. oooooooo and it smelled disgusting too. TMI I know

OP I think I bled for three weeks, then every time I over exerted myself I would start bleeding again, so just try and take it easy!

prada · 08/12/2008 10:25

thanks! i've added more pads on my sainsburys order!! how i hate pads!!!

also agree with whooosh, when they finally changed my bed it looked pretty horrific down there!!
