I have just noticed that Close Parent are giving away 1000 nappies. Has anyone ever tried these nappies? I think I am going to register for my free one, but would love feedback on how they work compared to others:-)

Thanks all,
a newbie

I bought one in Waitrose after seeing someone else with some.

I have used it a few times and really like it - am thinking of buying a few more to go with my small stash of Bumgenius and to replace the size 1 nappies my boy is just growing out of.

I find that the containment is good, they stay softer than terry, they are quite slow drying but not terrible, they fit nicely, are very trim......

were do you register please?

Do you have a link? I've looked on their website and there is nothing about a giveaway there.

I love them! I sold my BG to get Pop-ins as they are more natural fibres and the bamboo terry is so lovely! They do take a long time to dry, but are worth it as they last about 4/5 hours on my heavy wetter.

I went to www.closeparent.com. But I had to press F5 a couple of times as I think they have just changed the site to a new blue one. I then registered on the home page.
I saw that they sell them in Waitrose which seems like a good endorsement. Will feed back when I have one.

love them, got trial pack, then got 10-pack with MN discount, good trim fit and absorbance, quickest to dry amongst all my bamboo nappies, contain explosive nb bf poos!

lollipopmother · 05/12/2008 18:15

I like them too, very tidy unlike the Wonderoo which is a total mess, leg gusset means good fit. Two gripes - one is that the leg elastic is fierce so catches poo in the folds and it's a bugger to wash out, second is that it isn't a pocket so not fleece lined. Think it's a bit of a con to charge extra for night time booster as well, I think it should be included and i'm not sure it's much more absorbent than the two tongues tbh.

wastingmyeducation · 06/12/2008 09:06

How do you know if you're getting a free one once you've registered?

xx

tallbirduk · 06/12/2008 20:14

I think the night time booster goes in as well as the 2 tongues to make it sooper dooper absorbent (and quite bulky).

I tried the nappy + two standard absorbers overnight the other night - big mistake, nowhere near absorbent enough and there was wee everywhere.

Tonight I have the nighttime booster in + 2 standard ones, DS has a big round bottom but hopefully there will be no leaks! Not entirely confident that this arrangement will contain any poos mind you - but I am willing to try most things once.

lollipopmother · 06/12/2008 23:06

I was wondering that as well tallbirduk, if you put the nighttime thing in as well as the rest then the nappy is about 20 inches thick!!

tallbirduk · 07/12/2008 21:10

Yes - very thick lollipopmother - and unfortunately even with all that padding, DS had leaked by the time he woke up at 10:30pm!

I'm not really sure how or why, especially as it was all up his back (wee this is) even though the back of the inside of the nappy was dry .

I wonder whether the inserts need a couple more washes before they work properly? I had given them 4 before using - thought that would be OK.

EssieAStarInBethlehem · 08/12/2008 23:56

Tallbird I'm having big problems with leaky pop-ins at night too. The booster is often still a bit dry, but my DS is wet (soaking back, through the grobag) by 11ish (bed at 8).

I phoned Close Parent to moan about this actually because I have a lot of pop-ins, and this has happened more than once.

I wonder whether it might be a leak from a leg somewhere. We tried putting the nappy on the next setting up (due to being bulky and possibly too short) and it worked a couple of times, but then we were back to the usual wet back.

I'm getting a few daytime leaks at the leg too.

ilovemydog · 09/12/2008 00:10

Essie - thought you were a pop-in fanatic!

EssieAStarInBethlehem · 09/12/2008 10:02

I was, and they were fab, but now they're beginning to let me down. It was because I strayed and tried a tots bots from TKMaxx... should have stayed faithful!

lollipopmother · 09/12/2008 10:10

Oh Essie, how disappointing for you. I put just the night booster in last night with a fleece topped booster on top and it was fine, she was in it for 11hrs. Have you looked at the back of the nappy when it's on? DD looks like a teenager with her arse hanging out of low-cut jeans and her love handles squashed together! I wouldn't be surprised if she got leaks up the back as the nappy doesn't even touch, but I loosened it off a bit and it seemed to fit a bit better, but obviously that then compromises the fit around the leg a bit.

Tallbird - I don't think that the night booster is supposed to go in with the others, there's a single popper on the night booster and I assume that means that it's supposed to pop in to the middle popper on the front of the nappy. As there aren't any other poppers I assume it's supposed to go in on its own.

EssieAStarInBethlehem · 09/12/2008 10:53

I wonder if it's a boy problem? Hang on, I'll start a new thread on this.

tallbirduk · 09/12/2008 14:55

Lollipopmother - it says in the 'instructions' that you can use the night booster by itself as a prefold for new borns, which is why it has a 'spare' popper on the outside. You are definately supposed to use it with the other 2 bits for a full on nighttime experience.

Essie - what did Close Parent say when you phoned them?

I haven't had any leaks in the daytime from them, but I have noticed that although they get v. v. soggy up front (where the source is), the wetness doesn't seem to spread backwards, so not all of the pads are utilised. Can't really understand why not though - haven't noticed this in any of my other nappies (and I have a fair few!).

WhereTheWiseMenWent · 15/12/2008 14:24

Has anyone had their sample yet?

lollipopmother · 15/12/2008 14:42

Nope not me, I assumed that I wasn't quick enough.

WhereTheWildThingsWere · 10/01/2009 21:19

Did anyone ever get one of these? If you look at their website it looks as though they are still giving them away.....

lollipopmother · 10/01/2009 22:38

Nope, there's another thread asking the same thing, I don't know anyone that has received a free one.
