I feel so bad for my third child

When my eldest now 8 was in reception it was a different party every week.
Poor little mite hasn't been to one yet and there seems to be a trend for sending a sweet into school and giving everybody one of those instead.
I now things are tight at the moment but at party at home wouldn't cost much would it and I'm now worried the party I've had planned for her for ages (and saved for) is going to look a bit vulgar and over the top as nobody else has had one.
Should I just go ahead, my other 2 have all had fab parties and invited the whole class at least once.

Have the party! DD is in reception and has been to three parties since she started, two were children from nursery who are now at her school, and the third a child from nursery at a different school. I am desparate for her to go to more parties so I have some idea of what is 'acceptable' to do for her in March. I thought she'd have been to at least a handful of parties by the time I had to start planning hers, and I'm beginning to worry!

Perhaps people are seeing sense if they are not having a whole class! I would go ahead if you want to, but much better to have her particular friends and keep it personal IMO.

They don't seem to be having any parties full stop.

think it so depends on the group of people

isn't there some saying about inviting their age plus 2 or something?

I reckon about a third of dd's class of 30 have parties, the rest don't seem to do anything with schoolfriends

DS1 is in reception and has been to one party only, people seem to be having smaller parties (there was one the other week that he wasn' invited to, only a couple of close school friends were).

I am tempted to cut back myself I must admit, I'd been planning a pink bonaza for years lol
