I'd hoped for a moment of twee smuggery as we discussed the Jupiter/Venus/Moon line up last night, which we gazed at, and wondered at, and looked up online.

This evening, mid-meal, DD1 points to the Solar System poster on the kitchen wall and says:

"That Jupiter's bigger than the Moon. It can't be the little teardrop we saw yesterday"

Then .... I recreated, word for word, subsituting planets for cows, the "Little ..... Far Away" conversation from Father Ted, and it's still ongoing.

There's a frightening blank happiness in her expression as she refutes me....

I was interrogated by my mum for hours when I was 9 - she read somewhere that most intellegent children would be questioning the existence of Father Christmas at that age - I was just too happy to believe ...
