How are you washing them? I haven't used them before but I'm sure I've seen that tumbling them or putting on the radiator is a sure fire way of killing them off.

I've been doing them at 60 degrees with non bio liquid and no softener. Just dry them on a clothes horse...

I'm no expert but I have heard that liquid detergent is bad for nappies, and so are liquitabs. So it could be the detergent maybe? Someone who knows more should be along soon I'd imagine

Are you boosting it enough? I know I get leaks when I don't enough

boost enough

I use Bumgenius and have had the same problem, someone mentioned a build up of washing powder/liquid, so advised me to wash the nappies with no detergent on a 60 and rinse, rinse and rinse, until there are no bubbles!! And apparently a dash of white vinegar in the final rinse 'strips' them down, haven't done this though!

I the wash this morning so hopefully they will be OK now, I've also got some boosters which I'm going to try if it happens again?

I think Bumgenius are brilliant and there the best thing I have bought!

perhaps not boosting enough...

another problem I'm having is that if DS2 does an explosive poo (he's 4 months and breastfed so it's the chicken korma style poo at the mo - sorry if TMI) then I can't get them really clean again - especially not in the first wash. I think it's cos I'm using non bio but I'm no washing expert. Any tips for this problem?

I use bumgenius on my 6 montold DS. No problem. No leaks. Have you tried rinsing the nappy in the wash before actually washing it?

Have you tried using a liner with your BG? I do a pre wash first then I use fleece liners but i'm not sure if you can use fleece liners with fleece lined nappies. Hopefully someone a bit wiser can help you with this
