Morning!

Do went fine. As usual nobody but me tipped the waitresses, despite work paying for half the meal, and the service being brilliant. I stayed behind and apologised on their behalf (there were 28 of us!) and wished them a merry xmas and left them £3. They said i was lovely, but that they'd all been in early to get ready for our table, and they couldn't believe that nobody else tipped, even at Xmas. I hate going for work meals, nobody ever tips but me

Anyway, i mixed my drinks all night, got sick of being with work peope and buggered off to my friends flat to watch TV and drink more wine. I fell asleep, she put me in a taxi and i got home around 11pm - and puked all over the kitchen. Very ashamed of myelf. Not a good plan, especially when i had to go on a 2hr car journey to my grandparents golden wedding party the next day. Had a great time there after i stopped feeling like dying though, and the kids got to know my parents alot better, and George called them Gran and Grampa although he called one of my brother 'the man'!

Ringing in sick today- i feel exhausted after being up all night with George. He has a terrible cough, and can't stop in the night. He sounds so pityful- brought him into our bed in the end. It didn't stop him coughing obviously, but it did comfort him as he was getting upset. Dylan is still in bed!!!!! It's gone 7am!!

Anyway- that was my weekend. Hope yours were all good.

Thanks Chaotica, She wont drink fruit juice only water so have tried that one but she just doesnt like it. Thankfully she managed to go this morning, as she asked to sit on her potty the minute she got up and did so for about 20 mins but it did the trick bless and she is much happier now. She must have sat on it about twenty times yesterday which is a right pain as I really must get some pullups there is only so many times you can restick nappy tapes!
I have used the baby glycerine suppositories before but dont want to have to use them each time she needs a poo. Going to try and get her to eat lots of fruit today if possible.

Grrl - thought it was quite funny about you drinking and then being sick - Im too scared to drink too much anymore incase im sick. I cant remeber the last time I was really drunk (probably a good thing). Good for you leaving a tip as that was really mean of your work colleagues. I bet the waitresses had a right moan about them.

Its horrid when they have a cough as you cant really help them can you. I always give Isaac Medised when he is struggling with a cold as It seems to help his breathing and sleep. He coughed last night too but managed to stay in his cot all night.

Both of my little ones have such green runny noses at the moment but still no spots and we have until wed as my countdown final date for spots to appear so I may have just escaped chicken pox this year, fingers crossed.

XmasFairyGrrrl · 16/12/2008 15:26

I am getting sooooooooo excited about Xmas! What's everyone getting / giving? I'm not having anything this year as we can't really afford it. Have bought Dyl a red bus with sounds / numbers etc, and George an airplane with 2 little people with cases in it. Also got them a giant flatpack rocket from the Oxfam website- it's recycled, and when you don't want it anymore you can recycle it. Also bought them some things with money relatives sent for them- mainly Charlie and Lola, and also a Julia Donaldson book they don't have yet. Can't wait to see their faces!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello ladies

Well, I managed yet another bout of understanding what it is like being a single parent; DH had his christmas party on sat night, and stayed over in a hotel, and was back sunday (but not much use I.E huntgover, feeling sick, just wanted to sit or sleep) and then he was at a board meeting early this morning, which meant travelling yetserday, having a meeting on the way down, and then staying over to be there to attend the 9am meeting. He was back at 3pm today and thank god. I do not know how single parents manage I really don;t. And if there are any on here, then I take my hat off to you.

Well today was nice until my parents popped over. I have decided to let DD stay up for an extra half an hour at lunchtime (before nap) so me and her can spend some one-on-one time together. So today, I said we would get the glitter and glue out and make some christmassy scenes. So, I put Izzy to bed and then who ends up doing the glitter and glueing with MY daugher? Yep - my mum. And then mum said she would take Freya up to her nap and I said no, that I needed to put away some clothes. My mum expected Freya to throw a hissyfit but she didn't and instead ran up to me arms outstretched. Honastly, sometimes I feel like my mum resents me for being the most important person in Freya's life. Oh and whilst they were here, I asked mum to watch them while I put lunch in the oven and Izzy pulled over a large picture (leant up against the side of the well - mum and dad had just bought it) and it fell on top of her. Izzy ended up with a massive bruise and did not stop crying for ages. Grrrrr!!!!!!!

Other than that, we are all fine!

I am also looking forward to christmas grrrl and have bought Freya a fairy castle and some painting crafty stuff, and Izzy a shopping trolley babywalker, a train thingy, and a dolly. It seems to be coming around to quick though!!

goodchristmasgirl · 16/12/2008 21:56

HI all,

Grrrl I am [shocked} at the people you work with not tipping? Was a service charge not included as it sometimes is with big parties like that? I would have been cross so well done you on tipping, and apologising!
I too have only ever once vomitted thru alcohol, when I was 19. Never again. I know my limits now. I know that sounds dull but I still have a good time!! .

Jewels I know what you mean about DH's being hung over. DD1 was sick for four days from Friday to Monday. DH was on nights, so at work at night and asleep in the day. Then sat night he had his Christmas do. I therefore ended up dealing with all the vomit. Then Sun am (when he was hung over ) DD2 deciced to be sick too, so I went upstairs and said "I'm sorry but I really need your help as they are both puking". So he came down to help. I said to him, if DD1 sitting on sofa, put a blanket over her so that if she vomits it goes on that, nit sofa. But he didn't. So next minute I had marmite toast vomit on my CREAM sofa !!!! I just went mad, I was so sick of cleaning up and washing sick by then I just flipped. I then spent an hour washing the sick out of sofa and clothes. So much bloody washing and nowhere to hang it!!

Anyway, she has finally stopped being sick but is still not got her appetite back.

Tomorrow I am taking her for her first ever haircut....EEEK!!! Feel a bit nervous as she has beautiful hair (I would love it!), honey blond with a natural wavey curl. It's really long but I can't expect DH to do stuff with it when he has them so she's getting a bob . I know it will grow but I feel awful getting all her lovely hair chopped off.

Other than that, I have really hurt my back, dunno what the hell I have done. Twinged it in Tesco one week ago, was slowly getting better, went swimming on Sunday and now I can hardly move. DH back at work tomorrow, really don't know how I'm gonna manage picking up DD2 on my own .

Anyway, night all. Sleep well.

P.S. DD1 is getting a weeble castle for Christmas. DD2 is getting some coloured textured blocks. Not very exciting I know, but she is only 8 months old!!!

XmasFairyGrrrl · 17/12/2008 08:28

goodchristmas- i don't think they'd included a service charge as work paid a certain amount, then we topped it up according to what we'd ordered. If there was a charge we'd have all had to add more when the bill was paid.

Sleep going good here- both boys slept in until after 6am for 3 days in a row now, even though they have awful colds.

My grandparents are visiting later, which should keep the boys entertained for a bit. And my Gran mentioned that as we're a bit strapped, she's made up a hamper for us aswell for Xmas -yay!

goodchristmasgirl · 17/12/2008 12:03

DD1 driving me crazy today....arghhhhhhh! Two year olds!!!!!!

SachaF · 17/12/2008 12:56

Hi, Can I be a newbie please? I have one boy who is 2 next week (Thursday....) and one girl who is just shy of 3 months. Finding it hard but wonderful!
Something seems to happen every month in this household (but Jan is looking quiet, before we move out for 3 weeks in Feb for new kitchen) so I only get online occassionally but have enjoyed reading this thread over the last week or so.
Sacha

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 17/12/2008 13:07

Hi there, another newbie wanting to join up ...I was briefly on one of the old threads when I found out I was pregnant when my DD was only 8months old. DS2 is now six weeks old, DD is 18 months and I have a 6.5yo DS1....who is thanfully at school all day.

Did my first visit to baby clinic this morning for DS2's 6 week check and felt in need of a large brandy by the time I was done as DD wanted to do the opposite of what she had been asked and then kept running off in the waiting room (curses on all automatic doors), then she refused to go in the consulting room and then refused to come out again

Tell me it gets easier, please

this is my christmas name. Usual posting name is LackaDAISYcal

XmasFairyGrrrl · 17/12/2008 13:15

Hello Sasha and 12daisy (good Xmas name BTW)

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 17/12/2008 13:25

thanks

baby crying. I'll hopefully catch up and meet everyone else soon.

tracyface · 17/12/2008 14:10

Yey! no chicken pox yet so I think we may have escaped for christmas. I dont mind them catching it as I know they need to at some point but we have had so many illnesses since september that it would be nice if we were at least well over christmas.

Isaac now has conjuctivitus this morning, which meant another trip to the doctors and its like a mountain climbing expedition with my two as the docs is up stairs and its impossible to carry both of them. So I have to get them both out of the pushchair and try and get Melissa to climb the stairs while I carry Isaac which takes her ages as she has to stop and discuss every bit of fluff or dirt on each step on the way up.(she has only been walking a months so is still a bit unsteady on her feet so its all a bit traumatic. If only one of the stony face receptionists would offer to help but that would never happen would it? Then we have a similar incident of not wanting to go into the docs as she has a bit of a phobia incase they prod or poke her. All to be told something I already knew, yes he needed some eye ointment.Could'nt hear very well over Melissa screaming, kicking the door and and trying to escape. When I phoned them this morning to tell them this and could they just leave me out a prescription, oh no you have to be seen by a doctor. Maybe they will listen to me next time rather than face the wrath of my dd .

Im quite exhausted from my trip out, not forgetting to mention dd also wrecking the shelves in the chemist while we had to wait 20 mins for our prescription of such a miniscule bottle of medecine. I feel a bit cheated not coming out with a hefty medical package after all the stresses of this morning.

I am quite excited about christmas but still dithering about what to get my little ones.

I have bought a little table and chairs and teaset for Melissa because I used to love having a teddy and dolly tea party when I was little, but she will probably throw them around. I have bought a fire engine and little people for Isaac but as long as its somthing he can chew he will be happy. Still waiting to see what my family are getting in the hope I wont have to get too much.

Sorry long post ...you can tell I havnt really been out of the house this week cant you.

tracyface · 17/12/2008 14:20

Sorry forgot to say hello to the newbies ..I am one my self really. I have five children 18, 16 and 10 but only two relevant to this thread Melissa 21 months and Isaac 10 months. Yes it does get easier , but only a little bit at a time

Chaotica · 17/12/2008 18:28

Hello all, and welcome, Sacha and 12daisy ( of good xmas name -- can never think of anything to do with 'chaotica') I have DD 2.7 and DS 14m (and have been moaning on threads like this for a year now )

Tracyface - narrowly avoided the doctor's myself today (although it doesn't sound as bad as yours) - my GP was off sick so my appointment was cancelled (I s'pose it has to happen some time...). I remember visits to the doctor which sound like yours (why do they ave electronic doors??). I resorted to a wrist strap for DD while she was a runner (you just can't abandon the LO to get the toddler sometimes and it was for her own safety as she kept running into/near roads). She grew out of it quickly enough, but somehow I think we're going to need one for Connor.

We made cakes this morning for the playgroup party tomorrow... which wouldn't be so odd, except Connor wailed until he was allowed to join in too (with a little spoon to stir with and everything) - so I think this is the beginning of a new era No more the baby who sits on the sidelines - now he wants to paint cake mixture on the worktop with the rest of us...

And DD asked her first 'why?' question [hides] Fortunately, she didn't follow it up with another.

XmasFairyGrrrl · 17/12/2008 18:31

God the doctors sounds a mare! I'm lucky- mine is on my street, and the staff are lovely and very helpful. Dyl has an eye infection now, and looks pityful with his cold aswell- he always seems to be ill. So i'm staying home from work tomorrow with him.

My grandparents came over, and brought a big box of chocolates, biscuits, wine etc etc. My Grampa also dressed up as Father Xmas and gave them both a present. Dyl started screaming as soon as he saw him so DH had to take him out, and George had only just woken from a nap, so he just sat staring at him and barely took the present. He did say after that Father Xmas had been and gave him a toy though

XmasFairyGrrrl · 17/12/2008 18:32

Chaotica- god i hate the why? why? whys?! I don't mind so much when you have a sensible answer, it's when you have no reply it drives me nuts. I find saying 'Because it is, and that's the end of it' stops George in his tracks now!

goodchristmasgirl · 17/12/2008 19:56

God I hate the constant questions too, it's driving me mad at the moment, so draining!!!

Welcome newbies!! lackadaisycal I recognise your name from other threads (thought it was a good name!). Can't remember which threads. I go by a few names depending on my mood....luckymummy74, goodcatholicgirl, gooddaysandbaddays etc etc.

tracyface I am still in complete awe of you having five children !!!.

Had DD1's haircut today (first time ever). She was bloody brilliant considering her age, sat really still. She now looks not unlike Suri Cruise (but far prettier ) with a sleek bob.

DD2 had her 8 month check and all is fine there. HV has signed me off from PND point of view, as she thinks I'm doing really well, and I must admit, I have felt really good the last 3 weeks or so. Let's hope it lasts.

Jewelsandgems · 17/12/2008 21:31

Welcome newbies

And girls I am having a dilemma and it is a biggie. I am coming up to Izzy's first birthday (christmas day) and I am feeling.....broody. I am thinking about having another baby FFS!!! Someone please give me a good talking to because (I know some of you have 3 and would not change that) but we promised that Freya was it and then Izzy came along and we were like 'ok, this time that is IT' and then, here I am thinking about babies

Other than that all fine, Izzy has been fine, a bit clingy, and Freya a bundle of lovleyness. And today I had them both to myself and - you know what - without my mum around Freya is such a well behaved little girl, and we have an utterley lovely day together.

I have had the christmas CDs on today and we have all had a nice time bopping away and making up silly dances

A bientot,
J&G

Chaotica · 17/12/2008 21:49

Glad you're feeling better, Goodchristmasgirl

Jewels - I get a bit broody now and then too My job and advanced age (I'm 108) stop me though... If I were any younger and didn't have a job I love, I'd go for it. As it is, we'll probably stick with 2.

(Weirdly, it's a big part of my job to ask a lot of awkward 'why' questions, so we'll have to see how I get on now Freya has started - I used to be mildly worried that I asked her more than she asked me )

kayzr · 17/12/2008 23:10

Hello,

Can I join in please?

I have 2 DS's, Freddie who is 21 months and Dylan who is 5 days old.

Finding it a slight struggle at the minute, feel like I have no time to play with Freddie. He doesn't seem too bad though, he isn't acting any different around me. He was hitting Dylan quite a bit but this seems to be calming down and he is giving him cuddles now.

Something quite funny though is how hard I find it to change Dylan as he is just so small compared to Freddie. I feel like he will break.

I'm looking forward to chatting with you

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 18/12/2008 08:19

thanks for the welcome

Hi kayzr. You are doing well to be posting again already! I hope your BFing is going better now. I saw your thread the other day. I'm finding it hard this week as my DH has gone back to work after nearly eight weeks at home (he was between jobs and took holidays and paternity leave as notice). It's getting better though.

I fell downstairs holding the baby this morning and am feeling a bit sore as I landed heavily on my hip and shoulder blade and have the beginnings of some lovely bruises and a friction burn on my hip . I'm going to be stiff and sore later, as I already have SPD left over from my pregnancy which gets worse as the day progresses. Thankfully, I managed to hold DS up out of the way so he is just fine.

Chaotica · 18/12/2008 09:08

Morning, All and welcome Kayzr (and CONGRATULATIONS! ) - I'm impressed with anyone posting with a baby this young too.

Ouch - 12Daisy. That fall must have scared you (and hurt). I've never done it myself but I always expect to sooner or later.

It's the playgroup xmas party today and DP is going out with work so I'm on my own (probably). I have a funny feeling that the party might be better for me that the LOs - everytime playgroup do something different, they want to know where the proper playgroup has gone.

goodchristmasgirl · 18/12/2008 13:39

Welcome kayzr. Congrats on your new baby too. It is hard work, but so every one keeps telling me, things will be so much easier when they're older, having had them closer together.

12daisy OUCH! Hope you are OK after your fall. Nasty! I had SPD in both pregnancies, worse with DD1. I am completely fine now, and was about 3 months after giving birth, so there is light at the end of the tunnel. I know how painful it is.

jewels Broody?????!!!
I can safely say I don't think I'll ever feel broody again. I love my girls to bits (depsite the constant questions!) but no way do I ever want another baby.

tracyface · 18/12/2008 14:19

Christmasgirl - lol . Having five is ok really as the oldest two are teenagers and more or less look after themselves. I am a bit of a task master and make them sort and wash thier laundry and take it in turns to cook dinner so we all help out and work well as a team or nothing would get done.(Hopefully their future girlfirind/wives will thank me for training them well.)

Jewels - Broody. I do know what you mean its so easy once they are no longer a tiny baby to miss that and think aww lets just have another one. But then you forget at how as they are still a baby its hard for them to share you with another baby so soon. Fell a bit guilty sometimes at how close in age mine are but I also had worries of being too old and hope they will be close once they get a bit older. So yes I would always say go ahead and have another !

Chaotica - we did some cooking this morning too which was quite tricky as Melissa wanted to help a bit too much and I had to keep telling myself it didnt matter what the end result was or how much mess we made that it was enjoyable treat that she had fun. But I am still going to have to wipe all the kitchen tiles down at some point later today.

We made quite a healthy banana loaf which was yummy till I realised she had decided to share it with Isaac and she had shoved a rather large piece which he was desparatley trying to manage without choking all while I went to get a tissue for his endless running nose. Melissa never shares her food with him especially not cake ! So maybe it wasnt quite as yummy as I thought and she was trying to get rid of it quick while I was out of the room.

goodchristmasgirl · 18/12/2008 18:28

tracyface you can play it down as much as you like love, but I still think you are amazing. I can also fully vouch for the fact that your future daughters in law will most definitely appreciate you training them up early. My MIL was like that with DH and I can honestly say, I love her for it, cos he is brilliant around the house, ironing, dusting, hoovering, cleaning, etc etc. And he does it without being asked. I think it helps that he lived alone before we got married (we didn't live together first...hence goodcatholicgirl ).

I know what you mean about the mess. I hate mess and I have to try really hard to 'let it go' with DD1, and let her be 'creative' but inside my inner Monica Geller is screaming .

Went to a lovely kids Christmas party with them both today. They were both brilliant and made me very proud. DD1 was cute as anything on the drive home, DD2 getting ratty and she kept singing to her and saying 'don't worry little sis, we'll be home soon!'. Soooooo cute!

(I forgive her for the constant questions!!)
