Not sure if this is head lice...he is not scratching/itching but there are black bits/pieces in his hair/scalp. Not sure if its leaf bits as he said they were throwing leaves at one another at pre-school...wht do you think?

Give him a bath and slather on conditioner, use the nit comb just in case and have a good look in daylight tomorrow.

soil/leaves/dirt - see if it washes out!

lol @do they move!

mummatoone · 26/11/2008 16:58

nope - Im hoping its just dirt from leaf throwing! Just googled and they say head lice looks like dandruff so Im assuming white whilst the bits on his scalp are black

Doesn't sound like it - but not everyone itches with nits. Only if you are sensitive to their faeces.

Immature eggs are dark - they only go white after they have hatched. When DD1 had headlice, she had little, tiny black dots, close to her scalp. They weren't itchy.

The eggs are stuck to the hair shaft - you can't brush them off, but you can pick them out with your nails. So if they wash out easily, it's dirt. If not, get combing

Panic over - after a good hairwash last night - this morning we are all clear - Im confident that it was leaves and dirt - boys will be boys!
