Need a double, but not a P&T

There are countless requests for double buggy advice on here, but all the replies seem to be for a P&T of some variety.

The thing is, we've found the ability to clip on our cabriofix when DS is sleeping in the car invaluable. I couldn't imagine picking him up to transfer him to a buggy without waking him.

So with #2 due in April (DS will be 16 months) we're looking at double buggies, but preferably one that will take the maxi cosi car seat and still have a decent sized seat for DS.

Anyone got any experience?

I don't think there is a twin pushchair that takes these, could be wrong but don't think so.

There are twin pushchairs that take other car seats though if thats any use.

TBH though I wouldn't use the car seat on pram because it's not good for baby's spine.

jane powertwin but you'll need a new car seat too. i'm hunting down double buggies too - their isn't much choice. However, I have a bigger age gap so won't have to use mine for so long. With your age gap I'd go for a side by side - mountain buggy or out n about nipper, neither can you put a carseat on.

The prams that fit onto Maxi Cosi are Qunny and Bugaboo (but think that Maxi Cosi also do their own pram?). Am fairly sure they don't do double prams.

Think Phil and Ted's do their own car seat that fits onto their pram...

Otherwise a Jane Power twin...

This the icandy ones take car seats. Not sure which ones but might be worth having a look.

dizzydixies · 24/11/2008 14:02

easywalker duo has two forward facing seats, one of which can be removed to take a carry cot of maxi cosy too

its light, very easy to push and goes through doors like a dream

see here

you can order it cheaper from abroad too

insywinsyspider · 24/11/2008 14:13

I know you don't want a P&T but they do a bracket that allows you to clip maxi cosi on - look at this

geordieminx · 24/11/2008 14:15

Icandy pear

dizzydixies · 24/11/2008 16:46

Icandy pear doesn't get great reviews and I wasn't too keen when I saw one

its heavy and when baby faces inwards then toddler at front has to face inwards too and if you want toddler to face outwards then baby has to face away from you too?

I can see the attraction though with the ability to go down to a single but it certainly didn't suit us. My 2yr old wouldn't be happy staring at the back of the seat and I wouldn't be happy not seeing the wee one either

geordieminx · 24/11/2008 16:49

I cant really think of a whole lot else then, powertwin would probably be your best bet, but as mentioned you would need to change your car seat. Unfortunately there is never a perfect solution - you just need to deceide what you can compromise on.

FruitynNutty · 24/11/2008 16:54

You can put a maxi cosi on a P&T. It's what attracted me to mine in the first place I don't know what I'd have done without my P&T. I've tried 2 other types of double and found this to be the most amazing!

wintersapproaching · 24/11/2008 16:57

DO you want a side by side or one in front of the other?
The you can fix your maxi cosi onto the P&T but means the Toddler wouldnt be able to be in the pram as well.

The double Mountain Buggy is a side by side and you can fix a carrycot or a car seat onto the frame and have DS next to baby.

neolara · 24/11/2008 16:59

Jane powertwin was great. Easy to push, both kids could see. Expensive but keeps its value well if you want to see it on ebay afterwards.

shawad · 25/11/2008 09:54

Thanks for the replies - to insywinsyspider and FruitynNutty, you can't use a maxi-cosi when using the P&T as a double though, so that's the reason I've discounted them.

I'll take a look at the mountain buggy or easywalker duo - although they're expensive.

Has anyone used or seen a Lebruss Zoom in action? It looks like the perfect solution, but seems long. Nowhere near me stocks them (Central Scotland) so I can't view.

shawad I'm just up the road from you (NE Fife) and got my easywalker sent over from Netherlands - I have to say for keeping them cosey and walking everywhere it is fantastic

are you sure you can put the car seat on the mountain buggy? I thought it was either carry cot attachment or seat - apologies if I'm wrong!

wintersapproaching · 25/11/2008 21:27

sorry, I wasnt accurate, dizzy is right, you can't fit a car seat onto MB double (glad you mentioned this Dizzy as I had thought you could but I must've been confused)

dizzydixies · 25/11/2008 21:53

winter am just delighted am right as it was the only reason I bought the easywalker over the mountainbuggy which I could've got second hand on ebay

as it was I had to have the easywalker shipped in and it wasn't cheap

sweetkitty · 25/11/2008 21:56

I saw a P&T with a newborn in a car seat in the front main seat and a toddler in the rear seat (so set up in 2 toddler mode IYSWIM)

I have a P&T with a 2 1/2 yo and a 4mo and it is fab, I had a side by side double and a tandem and P&T knocks the spots off them.

dizzydixies · 25/11/2008 21:58

ah behave yourself kitty

sweetkitty · 25/11/2008 22:15

hey dizzy you should see the P&T now have pimped it up with a funky buggy snuggle, DD3 in toddler seat in the back now

dizzydixies · 25/11/2008 22:47

am just DD2 was too tall for sitting on the top

easywalker is a dream though

sweetkitty · 26/11/2008 09:26

DD2's head was an inch away from not getting under the hood but TBH I never used it in baby toddler mode with the hood up (DD2 hates being under the hood) now it's in 2 toddler mode it's not a problem.

What I like is having a single or a double in the boot so on days I only have DD3 it's a single when DD2's with me it's a double been ideal pram for me.
