What type of playstation etc game do you deem inappropriate.....

For an 11 year old boy?

Probably one that has fighting, gun or weapon battle and especially one that shows blood I find that awful.
However I suppose if its the sort of fighting thats done with comic characters in a humourous sort of way thats okay.
Its a difficult one isn,t it.

Depends on the child and the game. There is a game called Kingdom Hearts which is 12+ which I have no problem with my dc's playing at 9 or 10. I can't really work out why it has a 12 rating.

I wouldn't let them have a 15+ or 18+ game, but I'd consider a 12+ game depending on the game and the child.

I agree with amumfromscotland, I would definitely consider a 12+ game, but any game which involves blood "spurting out" cannot be good!! As for Grand Theft Auto, definitely, definitely a horrible game, I can't understand why any child would want to play it and I know of friends that let their 12 year olds play it!! Come on!! DS1 (11 in February) can play 12+ rated games if I think they're Ok. He's not allowed to play any BBFC rated 15 or 18 games (no matter how much he whinges) I don't like 'realistic' violence - but I don't mind fantasy, nongory stuff (eg he can play World of Warcraft and Kingdom Hearts , but not Metal Gear Solid, or Call of Duty and definitely not GTA)
